Hyundai will hire workers from Bangladesh
Hyundai, one of the largest companies in South Korea, is interested in hiring technicians and painters from Bangladesh in the shipbuilding sector. This has created an opportunity to send skilled workers to that country. Meanwhile, a letter has been sent to the Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training (BMET) and Bangladesh Overseas Employment and Services Limited (BOESEL) requesting them to take initiative in this regard.
In this regard, a Foreign Ministry official said that South Korea is the number one country in the shipbuilding sector. The company has had several meetings with the Bangladesh Embassy. As a result, Hyundai became interested in hiring workers from Bangladesh.
He said that although workers have been in various productive sectors for a long time, no skilled workers have been sent to the shipbuilding. This has created an opportunity.
Who can apply
In case of technicians, persons with diploma, training in welding and seven years experience can apply. In the case of painters, college or bachelor's degree in chemistry or chemical can apply. One year experience is required for bachelor's degree holders and five years for college degree holders.
In case of both the jobs, the salary will be around Tk 2 lakh and the accommodation and lunch will be paid by the company.
New opportunities
In this regard, another official said that if Bangladeshi workers can work successfully in Hyundai company, then other shipbuilding companies will also take workers from Bangladesh.
"We had a meeting with the Korea Offshore and Shipbuilding Association," he said. Bangladesh has come a long way in this field and they have been informed about this.
There are five more companies as members of that association and this will make it possible to send workers there.

Asked if there is any risk of fraud in the case of labor recruits, he said that there is less risk of fraud in this case. Because, Hyundai company will recruit workers itself. However, in this case, a memorandum of understanding has to be signed with tthem.
