The Maldives is now one of the best tourist destinations in the world, surpassing the identity of a fisherman in the last three decades. The main tourist attractions here are the Resort Islands governed by the 'One Island, One Resort' policy.

After landing at the island's Valena International Airport, taxis were seen standing next to the boat with manure. The rent is fixed, so there is no shouting.

Hotels, roads, beaches - all around, shiny, shiny. There are benches, swings, hanging beds on the beach. Tourists can wrap up a little if they want to spend time on the beach.

The Bangladesh Mission in the Maldives is located in the Hulhumal area adjacent to the capital Male. There is no luxury resort. However, there are small hotels and cafes on the beach and along the road.

In the midst of all this, a four-storey hotel is standing on a quarter of a katha plot on the beach. Although the rooms are quite small, if you stay there every night, you have to pay 80 to 100 US dollars.

Bangladeshi youth in the management of the hotel. Nahid said that the price of land in and around Male is high.

He said, “Before visiting the island resort, many tourists spend a couple of nights in these hotels. The higher the investment, the higher the tax, the higher the operating costs, the higher the rent from the customers. ”

Although the cost of traveling to the Maldives is large, hundreds of thousands of people flock to this small land every year. In 2019, Maldives was recognized as the best tourist destination by the World Tourism Organization.

According to the Tourism Yearbook 2021 published by the Maldives Tourism Board, in 1982, there were only 260 beds in hotels for tourists in the Maldives. By 2020, it stands at 51,626.

From 2016 to 2019, 82% of these accommodation has been rented in various resorts, hotels, guesthouses and safari boats. However, due to the epidemic in 2020, it came down to 25 percent.

Most of the houses in Male and Hulhumale areas were found to have three storeys. There is no garbage around. Residents have parked cars and motorcycles at designated places on the road.

Each residential area has a park or children's play area. There are buses and ferries to get around the city.

Rear Admiral Mohammad Nazmul Hasan, Bangladesh's High Commissioner to the Maldives, thinks we have a lot to learn from the Maldives in tourism.

He told Sangbakis at the Bangladesh Mission in Mal on December 5 that 80 per cent of the total foreign exchange in the Maldives comes from tourism. The main tourist attraction here is Resort Island.

"An island is a resort - they follow this policy. The island resorts here have their own rules. They have leased the island on the same terms from the Maldivian government. The Maldivian government or any government entity never interferes in their internal management. ”

The Maldives covers an area of 298 sq km, with about 1,200 small islands. The total area of the island nation is 90,000 square kilometers.
