A new variant of coronavirus has been identified in the Indian state of Bihar. The new 'anonymous' variant was identified at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences in Bihar at Genome Sequencing.

The director of the institute said that they sequenced the genomes of 32 samples. Severely modified Omicron variants were found in 28 samples. Delta variants matched in four samples. A new variant was found in another sample. This variant has never been seen before.

In Bihar, India, the corona of 5,022 people was identified in one day on Sunday. The number of active patients in the state stands at 16,796. The death toll from the coronavirus in the state has risen to 12,101.
