1. The province of Saskatchewan announced a new immigration pilot program on November 25
Hard-to-fill skill pilots will allow Saskatchewan employers to recruit international talent for a profession with specific needs. Eligible jobs under this pilot will include entry-level positions that may require on-the-job training. Sectors with the highest labor demand in Saskatchewan include health, manufacturing, agriculture, ag-tech, construction, hospitality and retail.
"Labor demand in our province is strong, and it is only growing in Saskatchewan with significant economic projects recently announced," Immigration and Career Training Minister Jeremy Harrison said in a media release. "This new hard-to-fill skill pilot - developed in Saskatchewan for Saskatchewan - is going to help employers with progress in our autonomy negotiations with the federal government and more access to international options for hiring staff. This is in addition to a record investment in training and skills development for our provincial staff, as we enter a time of strong growth in response to the global epidemic. ”
Workers nominated through this Saskatchewan Migrant Nominee Program (SINP) stream will be supported by their employers and the community.

While we always work hard to eliminate every opportunity for local employment, we must be creative to ensure the right labor supply to help our businesses and communities grow and prosper in Saskatchewan, this unique program will be especially helpful in the future.
3. Some of the eligibility criteria for candidates include:
- Keep a full-time, permanent job offer and SINP job approval letter from a registered Saskatchewan employer for a qualified profession;
- Meet the minimum Canadian official language proficiency level; And,
- Meet the minimum educational and work experience requirements, including having at least one year of work experience in the same profession as the job offer or six months of work experience in that job in Saskatchewan.
Currently, the release does not say which professions require a qualification, minimum education requirement, or proper language proficiency level.
In order for employers to qualify, they must show that they have made extensive efforts to recruit internally before using pilots for recruitment. They need to demonstrate the requirements and benefits for their business and meet the requirements related to providing settlement assistance for workers. No further details were released.

- NOC- 9461: Process control and machine operators, food and beverage processing,
- NOC- 7452: Material handlers,
- NOC- 1521: Shippers and receivers,,
- NOC- 9619: Other laborers in processing, manufacturing and utilities,
- NOC- 6513: Food and beverage servers,
- NOC- 6525: Hotel front desk clerk,
- NOC- 6731: Light duty cleaners,
- NOC- 6711: Food counter attendants, kitchen helpers and related support occupations,
- NOC- 6733: Janitors, caretakers and building superintendents,
- NOC- 1525: Dispatchers,
- NOC- 7511: Transport truck drivers,
- NOC- 8431: General farm workers,
- NOC- 3414: Other assisting occupations in support of health services.
5. For the Applicant:
- There is a full-time, permanent job offer in a qualified profession with a Saskatchewan employer;
- Has a SINP job approval letter;
- Meet minimum language requirements and educational requirements; And
- Must have at least one year of work experience in the same profession and at least six months of work experience with a Saskatchewan employer.
Minimum educational and work experience level should be maintained, including at least one year experience in the same profession as job offer or six months experience in that position in Saskatchewan.
6. For Employers:
- You should make a concerted effort to recruit people from your own country.
- Employers should be able to demonstrate the importance and benefits of hiring for their company.
- Employers are advised to assist employees in their entire transfer process to make it easier for employees.

Once again, qualified jobs under this pilot will allow for the application of low- and entry-level positions, and may require training on the job, but it is important to keep businesses running and growing.
